Choosing Music for Your Wedding Film
Music plays an important role in how your wedding film feels. Because your film is professionally produced and delivered for personal sharing, every song we use must be properly licensed for use with video.

We offer a wide selection of commercially licensed music through Musicbed and Artlist, along with select mainstream songs through Lickd.

Wedding Music Licensing
Why We Can’t Use Just Any Song

Music is protected by copyright. Purchasing a song, streaming it through Spotify or Apple Music, or owning a physical copy does not provide permission to place that recording inside a professionally produced video.

Pairing music with moving images generally requires permission for both the underlying composition and the recorded performance. The U.S. Copyright Office explains these as synchronization and master-use rights.

Using music without the proper permission can result in copyright claims, muted audio, blocked posts, or removed videos. YouTube advises creators that copyright-protected material generally requires permission before it is included in a video, while Meta may mute or block videos when copyrighted music is detected.

Proper licensing protects our studio, protects the artists, and gives you greater confidence when watching and sharing your finished film.

Our Music Libraries

We provide three primary options for choosing music for your wedding film.

Musicbed

Musicbed offers a carefully curated collection of cinematic music from independent and emerging artists. Its library includes vocal and instrumental tracks across a wide variety of genres, moods, and styles.

Musicbed songs are included with our eligible wedding-film collections at no additional cost.

Artlist

Artlist offers an extensive collection of modern vocal, instrumental, cinematic, acoustic, electronic, and genre-specific music.

Artlist songs are also included with our eligible wedding-film collections at no additional cost. Artlist’s licensing model allows commissioned client projects to be distributed and shared under the applicable studio license.

Lickd
Lickd provides access to select commercially released and recognizable music from mainstream artists.

Available songs must be reviewed to confirm that the appropriate license can be obtained for your film and its intended use. When available, a Lickd song may be added for $100 per licensed track.

Not every mainstream song is available, and the available catalog can change as licensing agreements change.

Choosing the Right Song

The right song does not need to describe your relationship literally. Instead, consider how it feels and whether it reflects the personality of your celebration.

As you browse, think about:
-
The overall atmosphere you want the film to carry
-
Whether you prefer a vocal or instrumental track
-
Genres and artists you naturally enjoy
-
Whether the song complements the footage and spoken audio
-
Whether you will still enjoy hearing it years from now

The music helps guide the tone and direction of the finished film, so choosing a song you genuinely connect with is usually more important than choosing one that happens to mention weddings or love.

Can We Request a Specific Popular Song?

Absolutely—you are welcome to send us the name of any song you are considering.

We will check whether it is available through one of our licensing partners. If the song cannot be properly licensed, we can help you find an alternative with a similar sound, energy, or emotional quality.

Crediting the artist, purchasing the track, or using only part of the song does not replace the need for the proper license. The U.S. Copyright Office recommends obtaining permission from the copyright owner, and YouTube notes that even brief uses of copyrighted music may receive a claim.

Music on Instagram and TikTok

The music available inside Instagram, TikTok, or other social-media apps is licensed for use through those platforms and their built-in tools. That does not automatically give a videographer permission to embed the same recording into a professionally delivered wedding film.

Your finished film therefore needs its own appropriate music license before it is uploaded or shared.

Need Help Choosing?

You do not have to navigate thousands of songs alone.

Depending on your collection, you may select music from our licensed libraries or leave the selection to our in-house editor. You are also welcome to send examples of songs, artists, or genres you love so we can better understand your preferences.

Our goal is to find music that feels personal, supports the footage, and allows your wedding film to be shared with confidence.
